Tom Brokaw on Why Tuesday?

While I was at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week, some of you told us that Tom Brokaw of NBC News spoke on-air about Why Tuesday? and our efforts to make the state of America’s voting system an issue our elected officials cannot afford to avoid. Well, I found the clip!

Some of you may remember that Brokaw shouted us out in May during election night coverage as well.

Al Franken and Sen. Norm Coleman

Last week at Why Tuesday? we submitted a video question via YouTube’s YouChoose08 to Senator Norm Coleman and Al Franken, who are up against each other for a U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota. We wanted to know what they would do to increase American voter participation. Well, they responded!

Summary: Franken likes the idea of weekend voting, Coleman doesn’t.

Race & Politics on NPR

With Illinois Sen. Barack Obama as the first African-American presidential candidate, the issue of race will undoubtedly play a role in the way many voters view the election.

To kick off Weekend Edition Sunday’s ongoing series about race and politics, host Liane Hansen spoke with two listeners, Greg Harden of Rochester, N.Y., and Trish Callahan of Portland, Maine. At the same time, I hit the streets of Los Angeles to let folks sound off about race and politics. Check out the video.
