I'm the AMC News correspondent, executive director of Why Tuesday, a nonpartisan group working to increase American voter participation, and a contributor to MTV's 2012 election coverage. I also host Civics In A Minute for Participant Media and serve as member of the City Year Los Angeles associates board.

I co-hosted NBC's School Pride and have contributed reporting to CNN, NPR's Weekend Edition and the PBS series WIRED Science.

Here’s a cool story for my fellow political junkies:

My uncle Joe owns a hardwood flooring company called Rode Brothers. In 1982 the company was chosen to install the flooring in the Oval Office for President Reagan (Nancy Reagan was a customer of my grandparents at their Beverly Hills linen store Shaxted). Here are some family behind-the-scenes photos my aunt dug up. I think this floor is still in the Oval Office today.

Update: My dad tells me this floor is indeed still in the Oval Office today and that the Reagan’s decorator Ted Graber was involved in the project. He also said the floor removed included a layer of cork, which was there because President Eisenhower often wore golf shoes to work.
