Talking Technophobia on NPR

This week on NPR Weekend Edition, we’re doing a package about “technophobia” and will be discussing how some folks are hesitant to adopt and use technology like Twitter and YouTube.

Rainn Wilson of The Office is making a guest appearance and will be chatting with the legendary news man Daniel Schorr, Andy Carvin and Scott Simon. Here’s my vlog that’s running as part of the package on NPR Soapbox.

Update: I sat for an interview with Kayla at Hawaii Public Radio after finishing the 2-way with Liane for Weekend Edition. Listen to our conversation here.

Vlogging For NPR, From Hawaii

Greetings, again, from Oahu, Hawaii where President-elect Barack Obama is spending his final Christmas vacation before moving into the White House.

I’m here for my family vacation, and while here I’ve been, for NPR Weekend Edition, asking locals how they feel that their native son is heading to the White House, chatted with New York Times correspondent Jeff Zeleny, and walked down Kailua beach to find the paparazzo that snapped the now-famous shirtless picture of the President-elect.

Aloha from Oahu.

Aloha from Oahu.

Uff Da! On Election Day 2008 I visited Shiloh Christian School (amongst other places) in Bismarck, North Dakota for Why Tuesday? and NPR. North Dakota is the only state in the United States without voter registration. Watch my vlog to get a behind-the-scenes look at what the polling places I checked out looked like on this “Tuesday after the first Monday in November.”

Race & Politics on NPR

With Illinois Sen. Barack Obama as the first African-American presidential candidate, the issue of race will undoubtedly play a role in the way many voters view the election.

To kick off Weekend Edition Sunday’s ongoing series about race and politics, host Liane Hansen spoke with two listeners, Greg Harden of Rochester, N.Y., and Trish Callahan of Portland, Maine. At the same time, I hit the streets of Los Angeles to let folks sound off about race and politics. Check out the video.

NPR: Why Tuesday?

NPR

This month, Weekend Edition Sunday is exploring what it means to be an American by way of American history. I contributed an essay about why we vote on Tuesday for today’s program, and this is the blog post which goes along with my essay.

Yesterday afternoon at PDF2008 Davar Iran Ardalan, Senior Supervisory Producer at Weekend Edition Sunday, and I sat down with Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington, MySpace IMPACT Director Lee Brenner and blogger Matt Stoller of OpenLeft.com for a 10-minute conversation about how what they do is literally changing politics as we know it — and maybe public radio too.

NPR’s very own Andy Carvin makes a cameo appearance too. He streamed our entire chat live with his Qik cam so here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the behind-the-scenes interview. The high-quality version will be posted to NPR Sunday Soapbox later this morning. Many more interviews to come there from PDF2008 in the weeks ahead.
