Nicole and I went to the City Year Los Angeles “Case For Education” wine tasting event on Wednesday — and so did our friends Cedric and Ai (left)! The event was great and raised lots of money for the organization. For more pictures from the event, check out this photo album. For more of my posts about City Year, click here.
May 18th join me & City Year Los Angeles to help kids, schools & Los Angeles by drinking wine… or water, if you’d prefer.
“The time is always right do do what is right,” says the MLK Jr. quote on our @CityYear mural. (Taken with Instagram at Grape Elementary)
Denise Cramsey, Executive Producer of School Pride, passed away yesterday. This photo of me with Denise and School Pride co-EP Herb Ankrom was taken at our wrap party. Denise changed literally thousands of lives, including mine. RIP.
Thanks to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (left), Marshall Tuck and the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools for making our NBC School Pride renovation of Hollenbeck Middle School in Boyle Heights possible! This photo was on our reveal day back in August. I got dressed up in a bowtie for the occasion.
Tomorrow night (Friday) at 8/7C watch School Pride on NBC to see the Boyle Heights community come together to transform Hollenbeck Middle School. I was back at Hollenbeck today for a meeting with the nonprofit group City Year. I was so glad to see Ms. Czujko who is pictured in the photo album! Her room looks great. It was my favorite one to work in while we were shooting School Pride at Hollenbeck over the summer.
Good news: Dream come true! Got to sit at the anchor desk at the NBC News L.A. bureau to do an interview about School Pride.
Bad news: My interview about the American education system was bumped from MSNBC due to breaking news.
Make sure to tune into School Pride tonight at 8/7C on NBC as our team rebuilds a Tenessee school in desparate need of help.
Check out this awesome PSA from the folks who brought you Waiting for Superman and School Pride. It was shot this summer as we worked to renovate Hollenbeck Middle School in Boyle Heights by Mathieu Young and Wendy Cohen. In the PSA, the Hollenbeck community talks about what education means to them.
See Waiting for Superman in theaters now and catch the next episode of School Pride this Friday at 8/7C on NBC!
Theme: Speaker by Alex Willemyns.
