At last, the answer to a burning question: what do I look like without my nerdy glasses?  Thanks to my buddy Tyler Hubby, you can see for yourself. I stopped by Tyler’s studio the other day after we had coffee and he snapped these portraits, something he does with friends who drop in.

That’s Nicole with her goddaughter on 4th of July weekend. I’m wearing the hat and supervising in the bottom photo.

Here’s a cool story for my fellow political junkies:

My uncle Joe owns a hardwood flooring company called Rode Brothers. In 1982 the company was chosen to install the flooring in the Oval Office for President Reagan (Nancy Reagan was a customer of my grandparents at their Beverly Hills linen store Shaxted). Here are some family behind-the-scenes photos my aunt dug up. I think this floor is still in the Oval Office today.

Update: My dad tells me this floor is indeed still in the Oval Office today and that the Reagan’s decorator Ted Graber was involved in the project. He also said the floor removed included a layer of cork, which was there because President Eisenhower often wore golf shoes to work.
